16th Sunday in Ordinary Time The Tangle of Good and Evil Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, We live in a world where good and evil are deeply tangled together. We see it everywhere: In our world: Righteousness coexists alongside deep injustice. In our families: Moments of profound love are sometimes interrupted by discord and conflict. In our parishes: Holier impulses live side-by-side with human weaknesses and misunderstandings. Faced with this reality, we often ask the same question: "Why doesn't God just destroy evil immediately? Why does He allow bad things and bad people to persist?" This is not a new question. In today’s Gospel, the disciples ask Jesus the very same thing: "Do you want us to go and pull up the weeds?" But Jesus’ response is gentle yet firm: "No; for in gathering the weeds you would uproot the wheat along with them. Let both grow together until the harvest" (Mt 13:29-30). Preparing the Soil of Our Soul Introduction: The Condition of Our Heart In today’s Gospel, Jesus shares the beautiful and relatable "Parable of the Sower." God is the extravagant Sower who constantly scatters the seeds of His love, grace, and Word into our lives. However, the harvest depends entirely on the condition of the soil which is our heart. Practical Situation: We live in an era of information overload and endless scrolling. We might listen to an inspiring sermon on Sunday, but by the time we reach the church parking lot, we are already checking emails or social media. The distractions of the world act like the birds, quickly snatching away the word before it can sink in. 2. The Rocky Ground: Emotional and Rootless Faith The rocky ground represents people who...

14th Sunday of Ordinary Time The Gift of Rest and a Lighter Yoke 1. The Gentle King (Zechariah 9:9-10 & Psalm 145) In the first reading, Prophet Zechariah foretells the coming of a King who enters not with chariots of war or proud horses, but riding humbly on a donkey. He comes to banish weapons and proclaim peace to the nations. Life Lesson: The world teaches us to be aggressive, self-reliant, and to carry our shields alone. But our King, Jesus, models humility. He shows us that true strength is found in gentleness and surrender to God’s will. 2. Living in the Spirit (Romans 8:9, 11-13) St. Paul reminds us that we do not belong to the flesh (earthly desires and anxieties) but to the Spirit. When we try to handle life purely with our human strength, we exhaust ourselves to spiritual death. But the Holy Spirit within us brings life and rejuvenates our weary souls. Life Lesson: Shift your focus from "What can I achieve today?" to "How can I let the Spirit guide me toda...
