25th Sunday of Ordinary time What is True Wealth? Dear brothers and sisters, Today's readings compel us to ask a crucial question: What is the true wealth in our lives? Who do we serve—God, or the wealth of this world? In the first reading, the prophet Amos harshly condemns the wealthy who exploit the poor and the needy to increase their riches. He asks, "Can we buy the poor for silver, and the needy for a pair of sandals?" The condemnation here isn't on wealth itself, but on the mindset that tramples on humanity, mercy, and justice for the sake of money. The Book of Proverbs tells us, "He who is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will reward him for what he has done" (Proverbs 19:17). This is a beautiful truth.
