 திருவருகைக்காலம்

முதல் வாரம் - ஞாயிறு

ஆண்டவரின் ஒளியில் நடப்போம், விழித்திருப்போம்

திருச்சபையின் புதிய வழிபாட்டு ஆண்டு இன்று திருவருகைக்காலம் (Advent) என்ற நம்பிக்கையுள்ள காலத்துடன் தொடங்குகிறது. இக்காலம் இரு பெரும் நிகழ்வுகளுக்காக நம்மை ஆயத்தப்படுத்துகிறது: மீட்பராகிய இயேசுவின் புனிதமான பிறப்பு விழா மற்றும் உலகை நியாயந்தீர்க்க வரவிருக்கும் அவரது மாட்சிமிகு இரண்டாம் வருகை. இன்றைய வாசகங்கள், இத்தகைய முக்கியமான வருகைக்காக நாம் விழிப்போடும் மனமாற்றத்தோடும் இருக்க வேண்டியதன் அவசியத்தை வலியுறுத்துகின்றன.

முதல் வாசகம் - எசாயா 2:1-5):

   இறைவாக்கினர் எசாயா, உலக முடிவில் நிகழப்போகும் இறைவனின் அரசாட்சியைப் படம்பிடித்துக் காட்டுகிறார். ஆண்டவரின் கோவில் அமைந்துள்ள சீயோன் மலை உலக மக்கள் அனைவரையும் தன்பால் ஈர்க்கும். அங்குதான் ஆண்டவரின் திருச்சட்டம் வெளிப்பட்டு, உலகிற்கு நீதியையும் சமாதானத்தையும் அளிக்கும். "வாள்களைக் கலப்பைக் கொழுக்களாகவும் ஈட்டிகளைக் கருக்கரிவாள்களாகவும் அடித்துக் கொள்வார்கள்" என்ற எசாயாவின் மகத்தான வார்த்தை, இயேசு கிறிஸ்துவில் நிறுவப்பட்ட சமாதானத்தின் இராஜ்யத்தையே குறிக்கிறது. நாம் இப்போதே அந்த இராஜ்யத்தின் குடிமக்களாக வாழ்ந்து, ஆண்டவரின் ஒளியில் நடக்க அழைக்கப்படுகிறோம்.

 இரண்டாம் வாசகம்

உரோமையர் 13:11-14

மீட்புக்கு ஆயத்தம் 

   திருத்தூதர் பவுல், விசுவாசிகள் இனி உறக்கத்தில் இருக்கக் கூடாது என்று எச்சரிக்கிறார். ஏனெனில், இயேசுவின் வருகையும் நமது மீட்பும் நாம் நினைத்ததை விட மிக அண்மையில் உள்ளது. எனவே, இரவின் இருள் நீங்கி, பகலின் ஒளி நெருங்குகிறது என்பதை உணர்ந்து, நாம் ஆன்மீக ரீதியில் செயல்பட வேண்டும்:

   இருளின் செயல்களைக் களைவோம்: குடிவெறி, களியாட்டம், கூடா ஒழுக்கம் போன்ற பாவச் செயல்களிலிருந்து விலகி, மனமாற்றம் அடைய வேண்டும்.

   ஒளியின் படைக்கலங்களை அணிவோம்: புண்ணிய செயல்கள், நன்னடத்தை மற்றும் கடவுளின் கற்பனைகளுக்குக் கீழ்ப்படிதல் ஆகியவற்றை நம் வாழ்வில் ஏற்றுக்கொள்வோம்.

   இயேசு கிறிஸ்துவை அணிந்து கொள்ளுங்கள்: கிறிஸ்துவே நம்முடைய ஆடை; நாம் நமது முழுமையாலும் இயேசுவைப் போல வாழத் தீர்மானிப்பதே இக்காலத்தின் முக்கியமான அழைப்பு.

 நற்செய்தி வாசகம் - மத்தேயு 24:37-44

விழித்திருங்கள்

   இயேசுவின் இறுதி வருகை திடீரெனவும், யாரும் எதிர்பாராத நேரத்திலும் இருக்கும் என்பதை நோவாவின் காலத்து வெள்ளப்பெருக்குடன் ஒப்பிடுகிறார். அன்றாட வாழ்வில் மக்கள் மூழ்கியிருந்ததால், வெள்ளப்பெருக்கின் ஆபத்தை அறியாதிருந்தனர்.

   இயேசுவின் எச்சரிக்கை நமக்கு: "நீங்கள் நினையாத நேரத்தில் மானிடமகன் வருவார்." எனவே, இருவர் வயலில் இருப்பர், ஒருவர் எடுக்கப்படுவார், மற்றவர் விட்டுவிடப்படுவார் என்பது போல, ஒவ்வொரு கிறிஸ்தவரும் எப்போதும் விழிப்போடும், செபத்தோடும், நற்செயல்களோடும் ஆயத்தமாக இருக்க வேண்டும்.

திருவருகையின் அழைப்பு

திருவருகைக்காலம் என்பது, நாம் நமது இதயக் கதவுகளைத் திறந்து, மீட்பராகிய இயேசுவை மீண்டும் வரவேற்க நம்மைத் தூய்மைப்படுத்திக் கொள்ளும் காலமாகும். கிறிஸ்துவைக் கொண்டாடுவதற்காகப் புற உலகத் தயாரிப்புகளில் ஈடுபடுவதற்கு முன், நம்முடைய உள்ளான மனமாற்றத்திற்கு முன்னுரிமை கொடுப்போம்.

The First Sunday of Advent

Walk in the Light and Be Vigilant

The liturgical year of the Church begins today with the hopeful season of Advent. This period serves as a twofold preparation: we prepare to celebrate the First Coming of Jesus at Christmas, and we sharpen our focus on preparing for His glorious Second Coming at the end of time. The readings urge us to adopt a stance of vigilance, conversion, and hopeful expectation.

The Word of God Revealed

The Kingdom of Peace (First Reading - Isaiah 2:1-5):

   The prophet Isaiah presents a magnificent vision of the End Times where the mountain of the Lord's Temple will be established as the highest, drawing all nations toward it. From this center, the Law and the Word of the Lord will go forth to establish justice and peace globally.

   > "They shall beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks."

   > This prophecy is realized in Christ, the source of true peace. Advent calls us to begin living under the rule of this peace now by forsaking conflict, choosing dialogue, and resolving to walk in the light of the Lord as we await His fullness.

 * Waking Up for Salvation (Second Reading - Romans 13:11-14):

   St. Paul issues a powerful, urgent call to spiritual consciousness: "It is the hour for you to wake from sleep." Our salvation is closer now than ever before. Since the darkness of the night is passing and the day is at hand, we must perform an act of spiritual conversion:

   * Cast off the works of darkness: We must put away sins like debauchery, promiscuity, quarreling, and jealousy. This is a call to Sacramental Confession and true repentance.

   * Put on the armor of light: We must choose virtues, good deeds, and obedience to God’s law.

   * Put on the Lord Jesus Christ: This means letting Christ permeate our entire being our thoughts, words, and actions so that our identity is defined by Him.

 * Be Prepared (Gospel Reading - Matthew 24:37-44):

   Jesus warns that His final return will be unexpected and sudden, comparing it to the flood in Noah’s time. People were engrossed in their routine lives, oblivious to the coming judgment.

   The lesson for us is to be perpetually ready. "Therefore, you also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect." This preparedness demands constant vigilance, prayer, and fidelity to our Christian duties, ensuring that we are spiritually "taken" into His Kingdom and not "left behind."

The Call of Advent

Advent is a holy season of purification and hope. It is a time to prioritize the inner conversion of our hearts over external holiday preparations. Let us open our hearts wide to receive Jesus, the King who comes to save us, by walking in His light and remaining spiritually alert.
