"மகிழுங்கள், ஆண்டவர் அண்மையில் இருக்கிறார்"

தமிழ் சிந்தனை (கத்தோலிக்கப் பார்வை)

திருவருகைக்காலம் மூன்றாம் ஞாயிறு, 'மகிழ்ச்சி ஞாயிறு' (Gaudete Sunday) என்று அழைக்கப்படுகிறது. இயேசுவின் பிறப்பு விழா நெருங்கி வருவதால், நம்முடைய எதிர்பார்ப்பும் மகிழ்ச்சியும் ஆழமாகிறது. இன்றைய வாசகங்கள், மீட்பரின் வருகை தரும் மகிழ்ச்சி, பொறுமை மற்றும் விசுவாசத்தின் சான்றுகளை வலியுறுத்துகின்றன.

திருவசன வெளிப்பாடு

 ஆண்டவரின் இரட்சிப்பு தரும் மகிழ்ச்சி (முதல் வாசகம் - எசாயா 35:1-6a, 10):

   இறைவாக்கினர் எசாயா, வரவிருக்கும் மீட்பின் காலமாகிய கிறிஸ்துவின் வருகையைக் குறித்துப் பேசுகிறார். பாலைவனமும் பாழ்வெளியும் கூடப் பூத்துக் குலுங்கி அகமகிழும் என்று கூறுகிறார். இந்த மாற்றம் கடவுளின் வருகையால் விளைகிறது: "இதோ, உங்கள் கடவுள் பழிதீர்க்க வருவார்... வந்து உங்களை விடுவிப்பார்."

   இந்த இரட்சிப்பின் அடையாளங்கள் தெளிவாக உள்ளன: பார்வையற்றோர் பார்வை பெறுகின்றனர், காது கேளாதோர் கேட்கின்றனர், கால் ஊனமுற்றோர் துள்ளிக்குதிக்கின்றனர். இந்த மகிழ்வு ஆன்மீக ரீதியாகவும், உடல் ரீதியாகவும் முழுமையாகும். ஆண்டவரால் விடுவிக்கப்பட்டோர் மகிழ்ந்து பாடிக்கொண்டே சீயோனுக்குத் திரும்புவர். நாம் கிறிஸ்துவின் வருகையை மகிழ்ச்சியோடு எதிர்பார்க்கும்போதே, இந்த அற்புதங்களின் ஆசீர்வாதங்களைப் பெறுகிறோம்.

 பொறுமை தேவை (இரண்டாம் வாசகம் - யாக்கோபு 5:7-10):

   திருத்தூதர் யாக்கோபு, ஆண்டவரின் வருகை நெருங்கி வந்துவிட்டதால், நாம் பொறுமையோடு இருக்க வேண்டும் என்று அறிவுறுத்துகிறார். ஒரு பயிரிடுபவர் நல்ல விளைச்சலுக்காக மழை வரும்வரை பொறுமையாகக் காத்திருப்பது போல, நாமும் விசுவாசத்தில் உறுதியாக இருந்து, பொறுமையைக் கடைப்பிடிக்க வேண்டும்.

   கிறிஸ்தவர்களாகிய நாம், ஒருவர் மற்றவருக்கு எதிராக முறையிடாமல், நியாயத்தீர்ப்புக்கு ஆளாகாதவாறு பார்த்துக்கொள்ள வேண்டும். துன்பத்தைத் தாங்கிய இறைவாக்கினர்கள் நமக்கு மாதிரிகளாக உள்ளனர். ஆண்டவர் தாமதித்தாலும், அவரது வருகை நெருங்கி வந்துவிட்டது என்ற நம்பிக்கையுடன் நம் உள்ளங்களை உறுதிப்படுத்துவோம்.

 மெசியாவின் செயல்களே சான்று (நற்செய்தி வாசகம் - மத்தேயு 11:2-11):

   சிறையிலிருந்த திருமுழுக்கு யோவான், வரவிருப்பவர் நீர்தாமா? அல்லது வேறு ஒருவரை எதிர்பார்க்க வேண்டுமா?" என்று இயேசுவிடம் கேட்கும்படி சீடர்களை அனுப்பினார். யோவான் கூட, இயேசுவே மெசியா என்பதை உறுதிப்படுத்தச் சில தெளிவான அடையாளங்களை நாடினார்.

   அதற்கு இயேசு, நீங்கள் காண்பவற்றையும் கேட்பவற்றையும் யோவானிடம் போய் அறிவியுங்கள்" என்று பதிலளிக்கிறார். அதாவது, பார்வையற்றோர் பார்வை பெறுவதும், கால் ஊனமுற்றோர் நடப்பதும், ஏழைகளுக்கு நற்செய்தி அறிவிக்கப்படுவதும்—இவையே நான் இறைவனால் அனுப்பப்பட்ட மெசியா என்பதற்கான உறுதியான சான்றுகள்.

   இயேசுவின் பதிலில் அடங்கியுள்ள மிக முக்கியமான செய்தி: சத்தியம் அதிகார வார்த்தைகளில் அல்ல, மாறாக அன்பு நிறைந்த செயல்களில்தான் உள்ளது. கிறிஸ்துவின் வருகை அற்புதங்களைச் செய்வதன் மூலம் நம் நம்பிக்கையை உறுதிப்படுத்துகிறது.

திருவருகையின் அழைப்பு

மகிழ்ச்சி ஞாயிறு நம்மைப் பார்க்கச் சொல்கிறது: இயேசுவில் மகிழ்ச்சி கொள்வோம். நமது தளர்ந்த கைகளையும் தள்ளாடும் முழங்கால்களையும் திடப்படுத்துவோம். பொறுமையுடன் காத்திருந்து, அவர் உண்மையிலேயே யார் என்பதை அவருடைய இரக்கமும் மீட்பும் நிறைந்த செயல்களால் அறிந்து கொள்வோம். மெசியாவின் வருகையை நம்பிக்கையோடும், ஆழமான மகிழ்ச்சியோடும் எதிர்நோக்குவோம்.

The Third Sunday of Advent: "Rejoice, the Lord is Near!"

The Third Sunday of Advent is traditionally called Gaudete Sunday (Rejoice Sunday). As we stand closer to Christmas, our anticipation shifts from somber reflection to joyful hope. The readings today emphasize the themes of joy, patience, and the definitive proof of Christ’s identity.

The Word of God Revealed

 Joy in God’s Salvation (First Reading - Isaiah 35:1-6a, 10):

   The prophet Isaiah foretells the coming restoration—a time of messianic joy. The wilderness and the wasteland will rejoice and bloom like the lily. This radical transformation is possible because of God’s intervention: "Here is your God... he will come to save you."

   The signs of this salvation are miraculous: the eyes of the blind shall be opened, the ears of the deaf unstopped, and the lame shall leap. This is a comprehensive healing—both physical and spiritual. This reading assures us that the presence of God brings life and overwhelming joy. We are encouraged to strengthen the hands that are feeble and make firm the knees that are weak as we await the great manifestation of the Lord’s glory.

 The Virtue of Patience (Second Reading - James 5:7-10):

   St. James instructs us to be patient until the coming of the Lord. He uses the analogy of the farmer who patiently waits for the precious yield of the soil, enduring the early and late rains.

   For Christians, this patience means steadfastness in faith and charity, refusing to complain or grumble against one another. The judge (Christ) stands ready at the gate; therefore, we must not condemn one another. We are called to imitate the patience of the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord, enduring tribulation while trusting in the promised fulfillment.

 The Evidence of Works (Gospel Reading - Matthew 11:2-11):

   John the Baptist, while imprisoned, sends his disciples to Jesus with a direct question: "Are you the one who is to come, or should we look for another?" John, the last great prophet, sought confirmation of Jesus’ identity as the expected Messiah.

   Jesus does not answer with a simple "Yes." Instead, He points to the evidence of His works: "Go and tell John what you hear and see: the blind regain their sight, the lame walk, lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the poor have the good news proclaimed to them."

   This response is key: Jesus proves His messianic identity by fulfilling the very signs foretold by Isaiah (the First Reading). He confirms that the power of the Kingdom is manifested not in political revolution, but in compassionate, redemptive acts.

The Call of Gaudete Sunday

On this Rejoice Sunday, we are called to joy—a joy rooted in the certainty that Christ the Savior is near. We must check our impatience, find strength in our community, and trust that the works of mercy we witness are the definitive proof that Jesus is indeed the one we have been waiting for. Let us prepare our hearts with expectant joy for His arrival.
