திருவருகைக்காலத்தின் இரண்டாம் ஞாயிறு 

மனமாற்றத்தின் வழியாக மாட்சிமைக்கு

திருவருகைக்காலம் என்பது வெறும் காத்திருப்பு அல்ல; அது ஒரு ஆயத்தக் காலம். இன்றைய வாசகங்கள் மூன்று முக்கியமான கருத்துக்களை நமக்கு முன்வைக்கின்றன: மெசியாவின் நீதியுள்ள ஆட்சி (எசாயா), கிறிஸ்துவின் மாதிரியைப் பின்பற்றி ஒருவரை ஒருவர் ஏற்றுக் கொள்ளுதல் (பவுல்), மற்றும் மனமாற்றத்திற்கான அழைப்பு (திருமுழுக்கு யோவான்).

அ) எசாயாவின் கனவு: சமாதானத்தின் ஆட்சி (முதல் வாசகம்)

இறைவாக்கினர் எசாயா அழிவின் நடுவே நம்பிக்கையைப் பார்க்கிறார்.

 - பரிசுத்த ஆவியின் கனிகள்: ஈசாயின் அடிமரத்திலிருந்து வரும் தளிர் (இயேசு) மீது ஞானம், மெய்யுணர்வு, ஆற்றல் போன்ற ஆவியின் கொடைகள் நிறைந்திருக்கும்.

 - தலைகீழ் நீதி: உலகம் அதிகாரத்தையும் பணத்தையும் பார்த்துத் தீர்ப்பு வழங்கும். ஆனால், இயேசு ஏழைகளுக்கும் ஒடுக்கப்பட்டவர்களுக்கும் நீதியை நிலைநாட்டுவார்.

 - சூழலியல் அமைதி: ஓநாய் ஆட்டுக்குட்டியுடன் தங்கும் என்ற உவமை, மனித இதயங்களில் உள்ள வன்முறை நீங்கி, ஒரு புதிய படைப்பு உருவாகும் என்பதைக் குறிக்கிறது.

ஆ) ஒற்றுமையின் சாட்சி (இரண்டாம் வாசகம்)

புனித பவுல், திருச்சபை உறுப்பினர்களிடையே இருக்க வேண்டிய உறவைப் பற்றிப் பேசுகிறார்.

 - எதிர்நோக்கும் ஊக்கமும்: மறைநூல் தரும் போதனைகள் நமக்குக் கஷ்ட காலங்களில் மன உறுதியைத் தருகின்றன.

 - ஏற்றுக் கொள்ளுதல்: கிறிஸ்து நம்மைப் பாவிகளாக இருந்தபோதே தழுவிக்கொண்டார். அதேபோல, நாமும் சக மனிதர்களின் குறைகளைப் பொறுத்துக்கொண்டு அவர்களை அன்புடன் ஏற்க வேண்டும். இதுவே கடவுளைப் பெருமைப்படுத்தும் செயல்.

இ) யோவானின் எச்சரிக்கை: கனி தராத மரம் (நற்செய்தி)

திருமுழுக்கு யோவான் ஒரு சீர்திருத்தவாதியாகத் தோன்றுகிறார்.

 - வாழ்க்கைப் பாதை சீரமைப்பு: ஆண்டவருக்காக வழியை ஆயத்தமாக்குவது என்பது சாலை அமைப்பதல்ல; நம் இதயத்தில் உள்ள வளைவுகளை (ஏமாற்றுதல், பொய்) நேராக்குவது.

 - பாரம்பரியம் மட்டும் போதாது: "நாங்கள் ஆபிரகாமின் பிள்ளைகள்" என்ற பெருமை யூதர்களைக் காப்பாற்றவில்லை. அதுபோல, "நான் கத்தோலிக்கன்" என்ற பெயர் மட்டும் நம்மை மீட்காது. மனமாற்றத்திற்கு ஏற்ற செயல்கள் (நற்கனிகள்) அவசியம்.

 - சுளகும் நெருப்பும்: இயேசு கோதுமையையும் பதரையும் பிரிப்பார். நம் வாழ்வில் உள்ள தேவையற்ற 'பதர்' போன்ற குணங்களை எரிக்கத் தயாராக இருக்க வேண்டும்.

வாழ்வுக்கான செய்தி

- தாழ்மை: திருமுழுக்கு யோவான் தன்னை விட இயேசு பெரியவர் என்று தாழ்த்திக் கொண்டார். நம் வாழ்விலும் 'தான்' எனும் அகந்தை குறைய வேண்டும்.

 - சமூக நீதி: ஏழைகளுக்குச் செய்யும் உதவி, இறைவனுக்குச் செய்யும் வழிபாடு.

 - நற்கனிகள்: அன்பு, பொறுமை, மன்னிப்பு ஆகிய கனிகளை இக்காலத்தில் நாம் பிறருக்கு வழங்க வேண்டும்.

From Repentance to Glory

The Second Sunday of Advent shifts our focus from "Watchfulness" to "Preparation through Repentance." The liturgy of the word invites us to witness the dawn of a new kingdom rooted in justice and peace.

A) The Branch of Jesse: A Kingdom of Peace (First Reading)

Prophet Isaiah speaks of a "shoot" springing from the stump of Jesse.

 - The Spirit-Filled King: The Messiah is endowed with the seven-fold gifts of the Holy Spirit (Wisdom, Counsel, Fortitude, etc.).

- Option for the Poor: Unlike worldly rulers, He judges with equity for the meek. His word is His power, and His belt is faithfulness.

 - Universal Harmony: The imagery of the wolf dwelling with the lamb symbolizes a world where enmity is replaced by divine peace.

B) Endurance and Welcome (Second Reading)

St. Paul encourages the Romans (and us) to find hope in the Scriptures.

 - The Example of Christ: Christ became a servant to all to show God’s truthfulness.

 - Mutual Acceptance: The core message is: "Welcome one another as Christ has welcomed you." True Advent preparation is seen in how we treat those who are different from us.

C) The Voice in the Desert: John the Baptist (Gospel)

John the Baptist is the bridge between the Old and New Testaments.

 - Metanoia (Change of Mind): Repentance is not just feeling sorry; it is a radical U-turn toward God.

 - Produce Good Fruit: John warns against religious complacency. Being a "descendant of Abraham" (or a nominal Christian) is not a shield against judgment. Only a life that produces the "fruit of righteousness" stands the test.

 - The Winnowing Fan: Jesus comes with the Holy Spirit and fire. He separates the wheat (virtues) from the chaff (vices). We are called to let go of the "chaff" in our lives.
