Heavenly Companions on Our Earthly Pilgrimage

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, today we celebrate the Feast of the Guardian Angels, a beautiful reminder of God’s personal love, protection, and constant presence in our daily lives.

As Holy Mother Church teaches, angels are spiritual beings created by God to serve Him and to assist us, the "heirs of salvation". The very word angel comes from the Greek aggelos and the Hebrew mal'akh, meaning "messenger". God sends these heavenly messengers not as distant observers, but as companions appointed to each of us from the moment of our birth to enlighten, protect, guide, and pray for our souls.

Scripture reassures us of this divine care in the Psalms: "To his angels he has given charge over you, to keep you in all your ways. Upon their hands they shall bear you up, lest you strike your foot against a stone". Jesus Himself affirms the dignity and value of every human soul when He says, "See that you do not despise one of these little ones; for I tell you their angels in heaven behold the face of my Father in heaven".

The role of our Guardian Angel is multifaceted:

Protection: They guard both our bodies from physical danger and our souls from spiritual harm, evil, and temptation.

Guidance & Enlightenment: They enlighten our minds to receive the truths of faith, inspire us to do good, and guide our choices especially in discerning God’s will and our true vocation.

Intercession: As our companions on this earthly pilgrimage, they lift us up when we fall, offer our prayers before the throne of God, and prepare our souls for paradise.

In the words of St. Bernard, we are encouraged to "turn to him to entreat his protection in every difficulty, danger, and temptation". Let us take comfort in knowing that we never walk alone.

Application for Today:

Revere your Guardian Angel: Show gratitude for the quiet, unseen care and protection your angel bestows upon you every day.

Seek their Guidance: In moments of doubt, temptation, or decision-making, invite your Guardian Angel to enlighten your mind and keep your steps firm on the path toward God.

Have Confidence in God's Love: Trust that God cares so deeply for your soul that He has assigned a heavenly protector to accompany you all the way to eternal life.

May we honor our Guardian Angels today by listening to their gentle promptings, walking in faith, and trusting always in God's merciful care. Amen.

நமது உலகப் பயணத்தின் விண்ணகத் தோழர்கள்

இயேசு கிறிஸ்துவில் அன்பார்ந்த சகோதர சகோதரிகளே, இன்று நாம் பாதுகாவல் தூதர்களின் நினைவுத் திருவிழையைக் கொண்டாடுகிறோம். இந்நாள், கடவுள் நம் ஒவ்வொருவர் மீதும் வைத்துள்ள தனிப்பட்ட அன்பு, பாதுகாப்பு மற்றும் அவரது இடைவிடாத பிரசன்னத்தை நமக்கு நினைவூட்டுகிறது.

நமது திருஅவை கற்பிப்பது போல, வானதூதர்கள் கடவுளால் படைக்கப்பட்ட அருவமான ஆவிகள் ஆவர். அவர்கள் இறைவனுக்குப் பணிபுரிவதோடு, "மீட்பைப் உரிமையாக்கிப் பெறவிருக்கும்" நமக்கு உதவி செய்யவும் அனுப்பப்பட்டுள்ளார்கள். தூதர் எனும் சொல் கிரேக்க மொழியில் அங்கேலோஸ் (Aggelos) என்றும், எபிரேய மொழியில் மலாஃக் (Mal'akh) என்றும் அழைக்கப்படுகிறது; இதற்கு "தூதுவர்" என்று பொருள். கடவுள் இந்த விண்ணகத் தூதர்களை ஏதோ தூரத்து பார்வையாளர்களாக அனுப்பவில்லை; மாறாக, நாம் பிறந்த நொடி முதலாய் நமது ஆன்மாவை ஒளிரச் செய்யவும், பாதுகாக்கவும், வழிநடத்தவும், நமக்காக மன்றாடவும் நியமிக்கப்பட்டத் தோழர்களாகவே அனுப்பியுள்ளார்.

திருப்பாடல்கள் நூலில் இறைவார்த்தை இந்த தெய்வீகப் பாதுகாப்பை நமக்கு உறுதிப்படுத்துகிறது: "நீர் செல்லும் வழியெல்லாம் உம்மைக் காக்கும்படி, தம் தூதருக்கு உம்மைப் பற்றி அவர் கட்டளையிடுவார். உம் கால் கல்லில் மோதிடாதபடி, அவர்கள் தங் கைகளில் உம்மைத் தாங்கிக்கொள்வர்". மேலும் இயேசுவும், "இந்தச் சிறியவருள் எவரையும் பழிக்காதவாறு பாருங்கள்; இவர்களுடைய வானதூதர்கள் விண்ணுலகில் என் விண்ணகத் தந்தையின் முகத்தை எப்போதும் காண்கிறார்கள்" என்று கூறி ஒவ்வொரு மனித ஆன்மாவின் கண்ணியத்தையும் மதிப்பையும் உயர்த்திக் காட்டுகிறார்.

நமது பாதுகாவல் தூதரின் முக்கியப் பணிகள்:

பாதுகாப்பு: அவர்கள் நம் உடலை ஆபத்துகளிலிருந்தும், நம் ஆன்மாவைத் தீமை, பாவம் மற்றும் சோதனைகளிலிருந்தும் பாதுகாக்கிறார்கள்.

வழிநடத்துதல் & ஒளியூட்டுதல்: விசுவாசத்தின் உண்மைகளை ஏற்றுக்கொள்ள நம் மனதை ஒளிரச் செய்கிறார்கள்; நன்மைகளைச் செய்ய நம்மை ஏவுகிறார்கள்; முக்கியமாக கடவுளின் திருவுளத்தையும் நமது அழைப்பையும் கண்டறிய நம் வழிகளைச் செம்மைப்படுத்துகிறார்கள்.

பரிந்துரை (மன்றாட்டு): இந்த உலகப் பயணத்தில் நம் தோழனாக இருந்து, நாம் விழும்போது நம்மைத் தாங்கிப் பிடித்து, நமது செபங்களை இறைவனின் அரியணைக்கு முன்பாகக் கொண்டு சென்று, நம் ஆன்மாவை விண்வீட்டிற்கு ஆயத்தப்படுத்துகிறார்கள்.

புனித பெர்னார்டு கூறுவது போல, "ஒவ்வொரு கடினமான சூழ்நிலையிலும், ஆபத்திலும், சோதனையிலும் நமது பாதுகாவல் தூதரின் உதவியையும் பாதுகாப்பையும் நாடிச் செல்வோம்". நாம் ஒருபோதும் தனிமையில் நடக்கவில்லை என்பதை நினைவில் கொண்டு ஆறுதல் அடைவோம்.

இன்றைய வாழ்விற்கான நடைமுறைச் சிந்தனை:

நன்றி உணர்வு கொள்ளுங்கள்: உங்கள் பாதுகாவல் தூதர் தினமும் உங்களுக்குச் செய்து வரும் கண்ணுக்குத் தெரியாத கவனிப்பிற்கும் பாதுகாப்பிற்கும் நன்றி கூறுங்கள்.

அவர்களின் வழிநடத்துதலை நாடுங்கள்: சந்தேகங்கள், சோதனைகள் அல்லது முடிவெடுக்கும் தருணங்களில், உங்கள் மனதை ஒளிரச் செய்யவும், இறைவனின் பாதையில் உங்கள் அடிகளை உறுதியாக்கவும் உங்கள் பாதுகாவல் தூதரை அறிவியலாக அமையுங்கள்.

இறை அன்பில் நம்பிக்கை வையுங்கள்: உங்கள் ஆன்மாவை நித்திய வாழ்விற்கு வழிநடத்திச் செல்ல ஒரு விண்ணகப் பாதுகாவலரையே நியமிக்கும் அளவுக்கு கடவுள் உங்கள் மீது பேரன்பு கொண்டுள்ளார் என்பதை முழுமையாக நம்புங்கள்.

நமது பாதுகாவல் தூதர்களின் மெல்லிய ஏவுதல்களுக்குச் செவிசாய்த்து, விசுவாசத்தில் நடந்து, கடவுளின் இரக்கமுள்ள பராமரிப்பில் எப்போதும் நம்பிக்கை வைத்து வாழ்வோம். ஆமென்.
